Jenn Thom is Head of Engineering at FAR.AI, where she leads the engineering organization, building the people, project, and partnership systems that enable the research team to move faster and have greater impact. At Code for America, she led the Data Science and UX Research teams, developed the organization's initial AI strategy, secured philanthropic funding to launch the AI Studio, and led the team in building AI-enabled prototypes for government agencies, including tools to help governments responsibly audit and remediate thousands of inaccessible PDF documents to comply with ADA regulations. At Spotify, she led an applied research team whose early prototypes shaped products that shipped to millions of users, including the Spotify AI DJ. Earlier, she designed dataset collection and benchmarking programs for natural language understanding models at Amazon Alexa and studied collaboration in large-scale online communities at IBM Research. She holds a BS, MS, and PhD from Cornell University, where her doctoral research focused on human-computer interaction, specifically on how people establish and defend territory in online communities.
